What MacMind (MMEC) Is All About

MMEC (Macarthur Mind & Education Centre) – open now in Camden, Narellan, Campbelltown, and the Greater Macarthur Area -  As Macarthur Mind & Education Centre is also a subsidiary of SETC (Sydney Education & Tourism Centre), we actually operate over the entire Sydney region (in-person meet-ups available in any part of Sydney, Wollongong, etc. where and when it will be both financially viable and profitable (covering a day in Sydney, transport-in-and-out, opportunity costs, etc.) In other words, if I were to meet up with any client(s) for a coffee, a meal, or anything, the fees for the meet-up and my costs getting in, the coffee & food ordered, etc. would be financially sound, as per my Business Studies – MMEC Curriculum soon to be release on our Facebook page, and then on here. I will be no worse off from going in to meet anyone anywhere and may have my meal and/or coffee covered as well – making the business profitable overall. I apologise that I am not currently in a position to take losses, loss-leaders, etc. and other things which I’ll teach about in our ‘franchising / franchises’ section of Business Studies.  Below is a long advertisement for MMEC ‘MacMind’ as it’s now being called for short. The ad is quite long, but it really spells out the vision for the business going forward and should be seen as a community good, and even can help other teachers and will now take on all interested tutoring companies as clients of MMEC. I will help organise and advertise for other companies that provide tutoring services (as none that I’ve seen directly compete with the unique blend of History/Geography, and other HSIE offerings from MacMind) and in this way people can make better-informed decisions about what they saw online incase the posts/ads from the tutoring company is a bit sketchy. MMEC will attempt to contact them and delve into this ‘sketchiness’, and then we’ll report on that company – so you always have a place to confirm ‘what we know’, ‘What’s been found out about that one?’ , ‘I have a strong suspicion/concerns that there’s an overseas element to that which may cause problems later’.  MMEC itself would like to operate overseas, and for some Online-teaching / tutoring – this should not, on paper, be a problem. In practice though, honestly, we all want to know who and what we’re really dealing with and the actual motivations behind all of it and all players in this space. MMEC will keep a running tally on that in our ‘Eyes On Other Tutors’ EOOT – Programs. If another tutoring company is friendly and has a direct relationship with MMEC – and/or becomes a client themselves of MMEC, then the reviews will be mostly or entirely positive. MMEC will give an honest and fair assessment of all companies including MMEC itself: Please see below what ‘MacMind’ is all about:

When someone starts falling behind, it’s hard to know what’s actually wrong — and even harder to know who to trust. This is not just talking about students, MacMind is for everyone young, old, and in-between.

For students this term (and next), MMEC is offering a free 20-minute consultation.

Send through a short writing sample and I’ll explain:

  • Where the learning gaps are
  • What we can realistically improve this term
  • And what to watch for moving forward

Clear insight. Practical steps. Real progress.

Spots are available for Terms 3, 4, and all Terms in 2027

For anyone over the age of 18, there are plenty of spots available for us to start helping you in some area of your life today, even if it’s only a minor interest or hobby, or maybe you just want to be better at keeping up with something.

Macarthur Mind & Education Centre  - 'You learn something new every day.'

I'M BACK — AND THIS TIME, I'M BUILDING SOMETHING BIGGER.

After some time away, Macarthur Mind & Education Centre — MMEC, or simply "MacMind" — is officially getting back to work.

And this isn't just a tutoring centre.

MacMind is my vision for a place where people can come to learn something, improve something, discover something, organise something, connect with other people, or simply find out what's happening in their own community.

From school students to adults, from people preparing for an HSC examination to someone who simply wants to learn more about Australian history, improve their business, understand the news, plan a trip, join a book club, learn about geography, or finally get around to studying something they've always been interested in — there should always be somewhere to go.

That's what I want MacMind to become.

WHAT WILL MMEC DO?

At the beginning, our focus will be education and practical learning, particularly:

📚 History
🌏 Geography
⚖️ Legal Studies
💼 Business Studies
📈 Economics
🧮 Practical, applied Mathematics
📖 English, reading and writing
📰 Current affairs and world knowledge
🎓 HSC and Preliminary preparation
💻 Business, workplace and professional skills

But that's only the beginning.

MacMind will also develop lifelong-learning programs for adults, covering interests such as Australian history, world history, travel, geography, politics and current affairs, books, films and television, music, sport, cars, aviation, railways, astronomy, languages, hobbies and much more.

Because learning shouldn't stop when school finishes.

Below is an example of a Legal Studies course to start helping anyone needing or interested in that area of learning, for Year 11 or the HSC, or just a general interest in law from anyone. Beyond that is the rest of the company’s vision if you’d like to help MMEC in helping others or helping you.

LEGAL STUDIES AT MACMIND

Our Legal Studies program is a good example of what makes MMEC different.

We won't simply teach students what they need to memorise for an examination.

We'll teach the syllabus — but we'll also introduce students to the real Australian legal world.

Courts.

Judges.

Barristers.

KCs.

Solicitors.

Major Australian law firms.

The NSW Supreme Court.

The High Court.

Famous Australian cases.

Major legal controversies.

Law reform.

The history of the Australian legal system.

And the people who actually make up Australia's legal profession.

Students will learn not only what the law says, but how the legal system works in the real world.

That is the philosophy behind MacMind:

As stated above,  This 'Legal Studies' Curriculum for Macarthur Mind is outlined more fully on a 16 August 2026 post that says 'MMEC Legal Studies Academy' It is from the view of a person looking up at the NSW Supreme Court building from the Phillip St. side.  Read that for Legal, and then Business Studies is coming in a post very soon, followed by Economics. Then the other areas that MMEC offers will be more fully detailed on the Facebook page 'Macarthur Mind & Education  Centre' and also here.

Below is our continued philosophy and offering:

WHOLE-KNOWLEDGE EDUCATION.

CLIENTS & MEMBERS

MMEC will operate with two basic ways of participating.

Clients can pay for individual services, classes, courses, research, tutoring or other MMEC services as required.

Members can choose ongoing weekly, monthly or multi-month arrangements and receive discounts on eligible services, together with additional membership benefits and ongoing support connected with their courses and interests.

The idea is simple:

A client comes to us when they need something.

A member becomes part of MacMind.

As MMEC grows, membership will allow us to provide more continuous services, programs, events, interest tracking, research and community activities.

MACMIND FOR THE COMMUNITY

I don't want MMEC to be a place that only exists for people who can afford a traditional tutoring program.

I want MacMind to become a community resource.

A place where someone can walk in and say:

"I'm looking for a job."

"I want to learn something."

"I want to start a business."

"I'm interested in local history."

"I want to join a book club."

"I need to know what's happening around here."

"I'm new to the area."

"I'm trying to organise my life."

"I've always wanted to learn about that."

And hopefully we can either help directly, point them toward the right information, or connect them with someone who can.

For genuine jobseekers, MMEC will also develop programs designed to encourage, organise and track progress while helping people identify opportunities and connect with appropriate employers and employment services.

We won't pretend to be a psychologist, lawyer, recruitment agency, government department or other regulated professional service when we aren't one.

But we can be the place that helps you figure out where to go next.

MACMIND & THE LOCAL COMMUNITY

My first priority is Campbelltown, Camden, Narellan and the wider Macarthur region.

I want MMEC to become involved in the community around it.

Local history.

Local businesses.

Libraries.

Schools.

Historical societies.

Community groups.

Churches and religious organisations.

Retirement communities.

The RSL.

Sporting organisations.

Arts and cultural groups.

Restaurants and local businesses.

And the people who actually live and work here.

Campbelltown has an incredible history.

Fred Fisher.

Fisher's Ghost.

The old courthouse.

The police station.

Mawson Park.

The railway.

The development of Queen Street.

The Macarthur region's military history.

Its migrant communities.

Its churches.

Its businesses.

Its schools.

Its families.

Its workers.

Its stories.

I want MacMind to help tell those stories.

I want to work with older residents to record their memories and family histories.

I want students to know why their suburb looks the way it does.

I want people who have lived here for fifty years to have their experiences recorded.

I want young people to understand the history of the place they call home.

And I want local businesses to know one another and work together.

THE BIGGER DREAM

Eventually, I don't want MacMind to be confined to one classroom.

I have a much bigger vision.

I want MMEC to become a community learning and knowledge hub — something with classrooms, study areas, meeting spaces, workshops, clubs, events and partnerships with other businesses and organisations.

A place that could be open early in the morning and remain active throughout the day and evening.

A place where a student can study in the morning.

An adult can attend a course during the day.

A business owner can attend a workshop in the afternoon.

A book club can meet in the evening.

A group can discuss local history.

Someone can attend a movie appreciation course.

Another group can organise a sporting or hobby activity.

And local businesses can participate rather than simply existing beside one another.

I would love to see MacMind eventually become part of the fabric of the communities in which it operates.

Not just another shop.

Not just another tutoring centre.

A place people know is there.

A place they can walk into.

A place they can learn.

A place they can meet people.

A place they can discover something new.

A place that helps connect the community around it.

THE MACMIND VISION

Every community deserves a place to learn, connect, grow and keep moving forward.

My long-term vision is for Macarthur Mind & Education Centre to become a network of community-based learning and knowledge hubs across Sydney and, eventually, beyond.

Not every location will look the same.

Some may have classrooms.

Some may operate through libraries, community spaces or partner businesses.

Some may have offices and dedicated learning rooms.

Some may be much smaller.

But the principle will remain the same:

Learn. Connect. Improve. Participate.

THE MACMIND MISSION

MacMind exists to make learning and practical knowledge more accessible, interesting and relevant to everyday life.

We aim to connect formal education with real-world knowledge, lifelong learning, community participation and practical skills.

We want to help students become knowledgeable, curious and confident.

We want to help adults keep learning.

We want to help local communities know their own history and understand their own neighbourhoods.

We want to help businesses connect with their communities.

And wherever we can, we want to help people figure out what comes next.

AND THIS IS WHERE IT STARTS.

Right now, MMEC is starting small.

Camden.

Campbelltown.

Macarthur.

I'm building this from the ground up.

There will be plenty of mistakes, plenty of lessons and plenty of things that will change along the way.

But I'm serious about building something that lasts.

And one day I want to be able to look back at this post and say:

"That's where it started."

So, if you've been following MMEC, don't just watch from the sidelines.

Get involved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What subjects do you offer tutoring in?

We offer tutoring in a wide range of subjects, just about every subject except Maths, English, Science. We do some English, but it's a specialised version, promoting reading, books, literature, and knowledge approach - different to the current English Syllabus. We offer tutoring in everything from Australian history to manned spaceflight and hundreds of specific subjects that are not offered in school or are so muddled-up in certain agendas (Geography) that they don't seem like something you'd want to learn. We teach geography from a countries, states, & cities, etc. - political geography approach, lots of maps and knowing where stuff is, right down to the city streets, and not from an eco-warrior enviro-change 'save our biomes' and ecology approach like the current geography syllabus in schools these days. An alternative approach to learning may be just what you or the students in your life need to get back on track.

How do you assess student progress?

We assess student progress through regular evaluations, feedback sessions, and performance tracking.

Can you accommodate students with learning disabilities?

Yes, we have experience working with students with learning disabilities and can provide tailored support to meet their specific needs.

“I have seen a significant improvement in my academic performance since enrolling them at Macarthur Mind & Education Centre. The tutors are knowledgeable and supportive, creating a positive learning environment.”
